Abstract

Although the problem of anxiety and fear has not been a priority in the treatment of coronavirus, the results of studies show that there is an increase in people's fear of coronavirus. This study aims to evaluate and confirm the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S)  in the Indonesian population. Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmation Factor analysis were used for this purpose. A total of 117 participants responded to the scale. The results of the EFA showed that the scale has two dimensions. Furthermore, the results of the CFA revealed that the Indonesian version of FCV-19S exhibited very good construct validity (factorial and convergent), and acceptable reliability. These findings suggest that the Indonesian version of FCV-19S is a developmentally appropriate instrument that can be used to examine fears of coronavirus in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study intends to determine the occurrence of insomnia and the habit of taking multivitamins against learning stress among students during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. Data were obtained in two times from 308 students in East Jakarta, Indonesia, applying a descriptive quantitative approach through the Rasch Model and inferential statistics via the Bayesian Anova. The result showed that the use of multivitamins and the existence of insomnia have been proved to be linked to the incident of stress among students during the early periods of the pandemic. Although the use of multivitamins is helpful to minimize stress, students consuming this commodity are likely to experience by stress up to 40 times higher than those that experience in insomnia. This condition becomes higher assuming the students, in addition to having insomnia, are also not accustomed to receiving multivitamins. The implications of this study, including considerations for better investigation of this issue, have been discussed and concluded.

One of the development tasks of adolescence is preparing career choices. Various methods have been carried out by authors in order to create an appropriate method to help adolescents. The purpose of the study was to examine the psychoeducational groups with self-instruction techniques in improving career decision-making skills, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. This preliminary study consisted of 60 participant who have low level of self-esteem, self-efficacy and career decision making. The instrument used to obtain data is the psychological scale of career decision making, self-esteem, and self-efficacy, all of which have been tested for validity and reliability. The data findings were analyzed by MANOVA and t-test. The results show that career decision making (F = 52.28, p <0.05), self-esteem (F = 28.10, p <0.05), and self-efficacy (F = 34.70, p <0.05) can be improved using psychoeducational groups with self-instruction techniques. The implications for the practice of guidance and counseling will be discussed. Thus psychoeducational groups with self-instruction techniques can be increased self-esteem, self-efficacy and career decision making.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) using Childhood Autistic Rating Scale (CARS). This research was also conducted as an effort to carry out placement and intervention in special schools. Samples of this study is 52 subjects randomly selected from the population of 138 were used to rate their behaviours using the CARS. Method that used in this study is cross-categorical survey (descriptive research). This is a survey that studies a group of sample in order to identify traits of such group. With the use of statistical data of chi-square, scores collected from the participants revealed that there was no significant difference in the scores or ratings. Also, the result obtained from the use of t-test indicated that the instrument significantly differentiate ASDs traits from Non-ASDs. The findings in this study prompted a suggestion that special schools, centres, homes etc should get this valid instrument handy for the purpose of identifying autistic traits in school children for correct placement and intervention.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of games in group guidance in improving students' interpersonal relationships. Games that were used were adapted to certain aspects of interpersonal relationships. An experimental method was used in this research, specifically the pre-experimental design: one group pre-test post-test. The effectiveness test was done by comparing the results of pre-test and post-test. The treatments were given to one group only without a comparison group. The hypothesis testing was done using non-parametric statistics, namely the Wilcoxon Statistical Test. The results showed an increase in students' interpersonal relationships through the provision of games in group guidance. The increased interpersonal relationships was by 17.2% and seen in all aspects of interpersonal relationships. Thus, it can be concluded that games in group guidance have proven to be effective in improving students' interpersonal relationships.
